BIG FFD Wonosobo 2026 - SGI Brings Agricultural Education Closer to Farmers

BIG FFD Wonosobo 2026 - SGI Brings Agricultural Education Closer to Farmers
About Event

SGI - Real Proof of Potato Cultivation Through BFFD 2026 Wonosobo. Sobat SGI, what if farmers did not only hear explanations about agricultural technology, but could also directly see the results of its application in the field? This is the spirit brought by Big FFD Wonosobo 2026. PT Sinar General Industries organized a field activity that brought together education, farmers’ experiences, crop observation, and direct evidence of potato cultivation results.

On Wednesday-Thursday (02-03/09/2026), PT Sinar General Industries held the Big Farmers Field Day activity in Garung District, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java. There is no doubt that Indonesia has extraordinary natural beauty. In addition, Indonesia’s demographic bonus also provides significant benefits.

Wonosobo Regency is one of the favorite tourism destinations in Central Java, especially for natural tourism, such as the Dieng Plateau, Mount Prau, Mount Sindoro, and others. In the agricultural sector, Wonosobo also has strong potential in local potato production. Dieng is one of the largest potato-producing areas in Indonesia. This makes Wonosobo Regency a supplier of potatoes to various regions in Central Java, including Yogyakarta, Solo, and Semarang.

Sobat SGI, the activity carried out by the SGI Central Java Regional Team was attended by more than 250 farmers. Participants had the opportunity to see the results of the SGI potato crop package application, compare demonstration plots with farmers’ comparison plots, participate in product socialization, discuss pest and disease control, and take part in direct sales activities with prizes.

The selection of Wonosobo as the location for the activity was based on strong considerations. The regency is one of the important potato production centers in Central Java. Based on 2025 data from the Central Java Province Statistics Indonesia, as stated in the activity materials, potato production in Wonosobo Regency reached 571,124 quintals. This figure placed Wonosobo as the second-largest potato-producing area in Central Java after Banjarnegara. This strong potential makes field education activities related to potato cultivation highly relevant for local farmers.

More Than 250 Farmers Attend Big FFD Wonosobo

Farmers’ enthusiasm was clearly visible from the attendance of more than 250 participants at Big FFD Wonosobo 2026. The large number of farmers attending shows that field activities remain an important means of exchanging knowledge and understanding agricultural technology in a more practical way. For farmers, seeing crop conditions directly is often easier to understand than receiving explanations only verbally or through reading materials.

In the field, Sobat SGI could observe crop growth, crop uniformity, leaf conditions, stem strength, tuber development, as well as signs of pest and disease disturbances. Such observations provide a more complete picture of the relationship between cultivation treatments and crop responses.

During this activity, SGI presented a comparison between the results of the demonstration plot and the farmers’ comparison plots. This comparison became an important part of the activity because farmers could directly see the results and discuss the differences they found. Therefore, the discussion did not stop at theory, but was based on the actual crop conditions in the field.

Why Has Wonosobo Become One of the Important Potato Producing Centers?

Wonosobo has a close relationship with potato cultivation. Its highland areas have long been used for horticultural activities and have become one of the main potato production centers in Central Java. The cool climate and high-altitude land are factors that support potato growth.

The Big FFD activity materials stated that the Wonosobo area, especially its highlands, has an elevation that supports potato cultivation. Lower mountain temperatures help the plants grow and form tubers more effectively when other cultivation requirements are also properly fulfilled.

However, natural conditions are not the only determining factor for successful cultivation. Potato productivity still depends on many aspects, including seed quality, land preparation, fertilization, water management, crop observation, pest and disease control, and the proper timing of harvest. Therefore, farmers’ experience needs to be combined with technical knowledge that continues to be updated.

Farmers’ Experience Becomes an Important Asset

As an area that has long cultivated potatoes, Wonosobo has farmers with strong cultivation experience. This experience becomes an important asset because farmers understand seasonal patterns, land characteristics, crop requirements, and various disturbances that commonly occur in their region.

Big FFD provides space for this experience to meet new information. Farmers can ask questions, explain the conditions in their fields, observe the results of different treatments, and then assess whether an approach can be applied or needs to be adjusted to the conditions of their respective fields.

Directly Observing the Results of SGI Demonstration Plots

One of the main parts of Big FFD Wonosobo 2026 was the demonstration of the results from applying the PT Sinar General Industries potato crop package. Demonstration plots were used as a learning facility so that farmers could directly observe the results of treatments, rather than only receiving explanations about the benefits of a product or cultivation method.

Sobat SGI could observe various aspects of the crops, ranging from growth conditions, crop uniformity, leaf health, crop development, levels of pest and disease disturbance, to visible results approaching harvest. These observations are important so that cultivation decisions are not based only on impressions, but also on results that can be compared.

What Should Be Observed in a Demonstration Plot?

When participating in a demonstration plot activity, do not only look at the plants that appear the greenest or largest. Farmers need to pay attention to the overall crop condition. Observe growth uniformity, leaf condition, levels of damage caused by pests or diseases, the ability of the crop to survive throughout the cultivation period, and the final results obtained.

Also pay attention to how the treatments are applied. Application timing, dosage, crop condition during treatment, and weather conditions can influence the results. By understanding the process, farmers gain a more complete picture and do not only focus on the final outcome.

Discussion on Potato Pests and Diseases with Farmers

Potato crops face various challenges throughout the cultivation period. Pest and disease disturbances can reduce plant health, tuber quality, and crop yields if they are not identified and controlled early. Therefore, discussions on pest and disease control became one of the important agendas during Big FFD Wonosobo 2026.

Field discussions help farmers understand that symptoms visible on crops do not always have the same cause. Yellowing leaves, spots, wilting plants, uneven growth, or damage to plant parts need to be carefully observed before deciding on control measures. Misidentifying the cause can result in less appropriate action.

Big FFD Becomes a Shared Learning Space for Farmers

Big FFD Wonosobo 2026 was not merely a product introduction activity. Its main value lay in the opportunity for farmers to observe, ask questions, compare, and discuss directly. When more than 250 farmers gather in one activity, the experience of one farmer can become a learning opportunity for another.

Problems found in one field may also be experienced by farmers in other areas. On the other hand, cultivation methods that produce good results can become discussion material to be further developed according to the conditions of each field. This exchange of experience helps reduce the gap between technical information and the real needs of farmers.

For SGI, field activities also provide an opportunity to directly hear the needs of farmers. Information from farmers regarding crop conditions, cultivation challenges, and control requirements can become valuable input in providing solutions that are more suitable for actual agricultural conditions in the field.

Together with Farmers, SGI Supports More Productive Agriculture

The large volume of potato production makes Wonosobo one of the important horticultural regions in Central Java. Maintaining and improving productivity requires the involvement of many parties, including farmers, agricultural extension officers, the government, business actors, and agricultural input providers.

Through Big FFD Wonosobo 2026, PT Sinar General Industries seeks to stay closer to farmers through activities that combine education and field demonstrations. Farmers not only receive information, but also have the opportunity to observe results, discuss, and directly compare cultivation practices.

For Sobat SGI, every planting season can bring different conditions. Therefore, crop observation, selecting actions based on field conditions, proper use of production inputs, recording results, and the willingness to continue learning are important parts of building a more productive and sustainable farming business.

PT Sinar General Industries remains committed to providing solutions for farmers through the provision of quality products to support crop growth and increase agricultural productivity.
